Welcome to Birstwith Church of England Primary School
Birstwith Church of England Primary School was founded in 1879 and welcomes children from age 4-11.
Nestled in the heart of the beautiful village of Birstwith, our school is a thriving and nurturing Church of England Primary School where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish.
As a small school, we are proud of our strong sense of community and the close relationships we build with our children and families. Our caring and inclusive environment enables children to feel safe, happy and confident as they learn - growing and developing a love of learning that will stay with them throughout their lives.
Our high-quality staff and excellent curriculum, support children to flourish both academically, emotionally and socially, and with consistently high results, we are proud of the amazing education we provide for the children in our school.
Our Christian vision and values are at the centre of all that we do, guiding the way we treat one another and shaping the warm, welcoming ethos that visitors so often comment upon. We enjoy a close partnership with St James' Church and regularly welcome our Vicar into school to lead Collective Worship. Throughout the year, we also make full use of the church for special services, celebrations, performances and community events.
Our historic school building, combines traditional character with modern facilities. Children benefit from spacious classrooms, a large hall, a well-stocked library, and extensive outdoor areas including a large school field and (thanks to our PTA), a fantastic adventure playground. Our talented school cook, Jill, prepares freshly cooked meals each day using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, while Birstwith Fun Club provides popular wraparound care before and after school, giving families flexible childcare in a familiar and caring environment.
Above all, Birstwith CE Primary School is a place where children are encouraged to be curious, resilient, kind and ambitious. We hope our website gives you a flavour of life at our school and warmly invite you to visit us and experience our special community for yourself.
We look forward to welcoming you to Birstwith CE Primary School.
